If someone gave you $5000 to spend at the clothing store of your choice, what would it be? Would you go for the high fashion of Gucci or Prada? Or would you stick with the mid-priced stores?
I think even if someone gave me $5000 or even more to spend just on clothing, I would not buy Gucci or Prada or Chanel. I think I would get more for my money and go to the same stores I always go to. Mostly, because the clothing that is super trendy does not work for my real life. I get puked on. I change diapers in these clothes. I get dirt and grime accidentally wiped on my outfit by my child. Here is the look I am going for: chic, put together, sort of trendy, but not enough to make people think I am over the top, romantic, & comfortable.

well at least a grand would go to j.crew for me. then it would be off to white house black market, the buckle for a couple pairs of MEK jeans, and then I would look for practical tops that look nice - that is what I lack in my closet - cute tops, then I would splurge on a pair of frye boots - mine are knock offs and they are showing it by now...I would probably splurge on some things that were very classic at Ann Taylor, and make sure I got a wonderful trench coat in the mix of those things.
I am sure by now the 5 grand is spent so I should quit now!
:)
So what stores are those, Erica? Just wondering what you have up in the Frozen North! ;)
99% of my clothes come from Free People and Urban Outfitters, so I'd probably stick with those, with some Anthro thrown in for a bit of "nicer" stuff. (Yeah, I know the company is a bit crooked but I'm devoted!)
In the frozen North, there aren't a lot of options! We do have Nordstrom's, but I buy very little there because it is too pricey for my budget. I shop at Banana Republic and Gap. We have a few boutique stores up here, that have a lot of cute stuff. It is really hard for me to get to those stores in the cold. I would rather go to the mall where we can walk around in warmth! I love Urban Outfitters, Anthropolgy, white house black market, Ann Taylor and j. crew, but we just don't have those stores up here. People up here dress for comfort and warmth. You see a lot of NOrth face, Burton, and Columbia brands floating around. :)
